The Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans (CEEB)
Report

AUGUST 2025

The Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans (CEEB) geographical region encompasses the northern part of Central Europe, including Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary. It also extends eastward to Romania before turning south to the Balkan countries, which include Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Albania, Greece, and Turkey.

In 1996, about a year before Brother Lee went to be with the Lord, he had a time of fellowship with the graduates of the Full-time Training in Anaheim. During this time, he told the graduate trainees that if they desired to serve the Lord full time, the need was twofold: first, in the United States and, second, in Russia and the Eastern European countries.

Even though some saints had been faithfully laboring in several of the countries in this geographical region (e.g., Albania, Greece, and others) since the early 1990s, the region itself came more into focus in the spring of 2000. At that time, the brothers in the blending fellowship, faithful to the Lord and to Brother Lee’s burden, felt that the time was right to complete his leading to go to Eastern Europe.
As a result of this fellowship, a group of five brothers was sent to visit seven Eastern European countries in early May 2000. Their goal was to assess the needs and the potential for expanding the Lord’s move in each country.

Beginning in Romania, they travelled to Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, the former East Germany, and finally to Poland. At the subsequent Memorial Day Conference and Summer Training, these brothers gave reports on what they had seen and began to sound the call for saints to rise up and go to Eastern Europe to spread the truths of the Lord’s recovery.

In the early 2000s, when more serving brothers from the United States and the Far East moved to various Eastern European countries, they began to meet twice a year. For a few days, they would fellowship, coordinate, and pray together. These meetings were usually held in Warsaw, Poland; Bratislava, Slovakia; Budapest, Hungary; and Timisoara, Romania.

Even after the original serving brothers returned to their home countries and new blending opportunities arose, some of the brothers, especially from the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia continued their corporate fellowship and blending. Later, beginning in 2015, brothers from Croatia and Serbia also joined their blending times. Eventually, following the blending conferences after the ITERO in Leipzig in 2016, a larger group of brothers from Central, Eastern, and Balkan Europe began to meet online for regular prayer. At the beginning of the pandemic in 2019, most of the fellowship moved online.

In 2020, we held the first Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans (CEEB) blending conference. Even though the languages of these countries differ, the practical church life and the personal and economic situations of the saints are very similar. Today, more than 20 brothers from all eleven CEEB countries are included in an online group to pray, fellowship, and coordinate weekly on various church-life matters and needs.

Today, there are approximately 700 adult saints in the eleven countries of the CEEB geographical region. These saints are meeting in 31 local churches and are endeavoring to faithfully give the Lord the cooperation He needs and desires for the carrying out of His move in Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans before the end of this age.

POLAND

In Poland, there are nine localities where the saints break bread and three more where the saints gather regularly. Except in Warsaw, where approximately 120 saints are meeting, the numbers in the other localities are smaller, ranging from 30 to as few as 4. Altogether, there are about 300 saints in Poland.

During the past year, in addition to the regular conferences – the international conference in Warsaw at the beginning of May, the sisters’ conferences twice a year, brothers’ meetings, the college-age conference, and the winter young people’s conference – the Lord opened the way to begin the perfecting training for the brothers: Lessons on the Eldership. For the last 30 years, Poland has also had the privilege of hosting the European Young People’s and Family Conference, with more than 1,700 saints attending this year.

The Lord has also continued to send the saints to four main cities in Poland—Wrocław, Łódź, Poznań, and Gdańsk—for the preaching of the gospel and the distribution of the New Testament. Through these visits, a number of open young people have been met, and the saints have continued to contact them. In all four of these cities, there are now saints whom the Lord has raised up locally or who have migrated there for the church life and the gospel. The newest development is in Gdańsk, where at the beginning of 2025 a Bibles for Europe distribution was carried out as part of the FTTA gospel trips, and the distribution has continued since then. Thanks to the monthly trips, several students have been saved and are now being regularly cared for. In addition, one family from the church in Elbląg has recently moved to Gdańsk to labor there for a harvest among the readers of the ministry and the college students.

Please pray with us for:

  • The Lord’s continued move in these four major cities in Poland and for further migration of the saints to strengthen the Lord’s presence and testimony there.

CZECHIA and SLOVAKIA

There are currently approximately 50 adult saints in the church life in the Czech Republic, gathering in three localities: Prague, Brno, and Letovice.

In Slovakia, there are approximately 60 adult saints. Most of them meet in the country’s two largest cities, Bratislava and Kosice, where the lampstands are located.

The brothers in Czechia and Slovakia coordinate closely on most major church activities, such as video trainings, the preparation of the Morning Revival, and gatherings and services related to children, young people, and families. The saints in both countries also continue to coordinate in practical matters of day-to-day church life, especially regarding children’s meetings, young people’s work, and community gospel labor.

This year, the saints from Czechia and Slovakia held another family retreat. This one-week event focuses primarily on the children. Such gatherings began more than 20 years ago, initiated by two sisters who felt the burden to care for the children in the church life. Over the years, hundreds of children’s songs and stories have been translated and learned during these retreats. While the burden for the children continues to be the primary emphasis, in recent years the scope has widened to include young people and adult saints, with dedicated time for each age group every day.

In 2024, a fellowship began among the brothers in CEEB concerning the burden to translate the New Testament into Czech and Slovak. This fellowship continued with some of the brothers responsible for the work in Europe and eventually with the brothers in the LSM office. As a result, the leading was to create a single team of Czech and Slovak translators to work together to produce two language versions of the New Testament simultaneously. The team of translators, who have been learning biblical Greek, is currently finalizing their preparation, with the plan to begin the actual translation of the Bible text and footnotes before the end of 2025. This extensive project will require a number of full-time translators working as a team for five years.

An ongoing weekly practice of preaching of the gospel is being held in downtown Bratislava. The saints position themselves in locations where a large number of students pass by each day. They use flyers, such as “The Mystery of Human Life,” in addition to free Rhema literature and free English New Testaments from Bibles for Europe. The saints hope that a Slovak New Testament version will also be available for distribution in a few years.

At the same time, the saints in Bratislava are praying for a suitable facility for meetings, work coordination, and potentially for hospitality and storage. Even though there has been a church life in Slovakia for 20 years, the saints’ economic situation has prevented them from purchasing a facility, and the continual renting of suitable one is becoming increasingly unreasonable. The brothers are seeking fellowship and the Lord’s leading in this matter. There is a growing sense among the CEEB brothers that, given Bratislava’s central location, it would be beneficial to have a facility where a few dozen adult saints, young people, and children can meet for blending and other corporate church gatherings.

For now, the saints in Bratislava are renting classrooms of different sizes, which allow them to hold one-day events only on weekends. One of these events is the regular clustering and blending with the saints from Vienna, Austria, the closest locality to Bratislava, with the usual participation of saints from Hungary, Czechia, and other localities in Slovakia and beyond. The burden of these meetings lies in the prophesying meeting, where all the saints speak for the Lord for the building up of the church. These meetings are also open to new ones and gospel contacts.

A very similar situation exists in Prague, where the saints are also praying and looking for a suitable facility for regular church meetings as well as for blending with saints from other localities.

Please pray with us for:

  • The continuation of a living and blended church life, with all the saints functioning.
  • The translation of the New Testament Recovery Version into Czech and Slovak. Pray specifically for the saints on the translation team that the Lord would keep and supply them in every part of their being, and for the practical and financial aspects of this five-year project.
  • The increase through weekly gospel effort in Bratislava and throughout Slovakia.
  • The purchase of a suitable facility in Bratislava for the practical church life, especially with the clustering and blending of the saints in view.
  • The provision of the most suitable facility for the practical church life and blending life in Prague.

HUNGARY

In Hungary, the capital city, Budapest, is thus far the only established lampstand. Currently, 25–30 saints meet on the ground of oneness on the Lord’s Day, including a few joining by Zoom who are physically limited or live in other parts of Hungary. There are also five open homes regularly used for gatherings in the church.

Since taking the ground in 2016, the church in Budapest has been bilingual, with translation between Hungarian and English. A number of overseas saints attend medical school in Budapest, and a few families have migrated here. The Lord has been steadily answering the prayer for an increase among Hungarian-speaking saints, though there remains a great need for bilingual saints who can support translation. An important, though hidden part of the church life is that a few Hungarian-speaking sisters actively fellowship and pray with one another, as well as shepherd contacts by phone.

In April 2025, a gospel team from the Full-time Training in Taipei labored in Budapest for an entire month. Through this gospel trip, the church in Budapest experienced increased fellowship and blending in the Body. The local saints were encouraged by the trainees’ practice of the God-ordained way to carry out God’s New Testament economy. The saints are now looking to the Lord for His shepherding and leading to continue the trainees’ labor in this way. One outline point from the recent December Training says, “The entire church life depends upon 2 Corinthians 13:14”The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” This word became especially meaningful in April as the saints were blended with the gospel team and experienced the circulation of the grace of Christ, the love of the Father, and the fellowship of the Spirit.

Please pray with us for:

  • The fellowship to increase both locally and universally so that the lampstand in Budapest may shine brighter, grow stronger, and resulting in the building up of the Body of Christ.

    ROMANIA

All the churches with altogether 55 saints in eight localities—București, Iași, Timisoara, Reșița, Cenad, Hunedoara, Cluj-Napoca, and Chețani are currently pursuing the ministry of the age. The Holy Word for Morning Revival is available in Romanian and covers all seven annual feasts. The saints also participate online in the semi-annual Trainings, the Memorial Day Conference, the Thanksgiving Conference, and the Chinese-speaking Conference, with an average of more than 55 registered saints plus some visitors. In November 2024, a local mini-conference was held in Timișoara with over 75 participants.

The recently purchased meeting hall in Bucharest was used for the church meeting for the first time on May 4, 2025. The Lord has blessed the saints in Bucharest with a spacious building that will be useful for both the local church meetings and various blending times.

    Please pray with us for:

    • The increase in life and in numbers in all the localities in Romania.

      CROATIA

There are four local churches in Croatia, with around 60 saints. Most of the saints are in their twenties and thirties.

The saints meet in homes. The meetings are very living, and in some places, such as the cities of Split and Hvar, the saints meet every day. At the same time, we are not satisfied with our lack of gospel preaching and fruit-bearing. Although the saints love the truth and are very eager to meet, there is a need for more “fresh fruit.”

Even though we are genuinely thankful for all our young adult saints, we would like to see at least some of them join the Full-time Training. We are praying that at least some would pick up the burden and the desire to be trained to become more useful in the Lord’s hands.

The translation of the New Testament Recovery Version is still in progress. We estimate that it will take another year and a half to complete. All the saints are earnestly praying for the team of four translators, for the Lord’s continual blessing on their labor, and for the release of the necessary financial support to finish the process.

The saints in Croatia and Serbia blend together regularly and are glad to participate in the CEEB and other regional conferences throughout the year.

Regarding the publication work, even though the focus is on the translation of the New Testament Recovery Version, we still aim to publish at least one Life-study per year. This is made possible through the help of a student sister, who is faithfully helping with this service for the past few years.

      Please pray with us for:

      • The Lord’s continual blessing on every aspect of the translation work of the New Testament Recovery Version into Serbo-Croatian.
      • The continuation of the living church life and the spread of the gospel.
      • The Lord’s calling of some of the young adult saints to attend the Full-time Training.

        SERBIA

The church in Novi Sad has been meeting since 2013, and the Lord’s Table was established in 2019. At present, it remains the only lampstand in Serbia.

On the Lord’s Day, about 18 saints gather regularly. In addition to the Lord’s Table, we also have regular prayer meetings and ministry reading meetings, which are usually attended by 6–8 saints. We also have weekly young people’s meetings, with around 10–12 young ones gathering.

Currently, our main burden is to raise up the next generation for the church life. For this reason, we look to the Lord that our young people would attend every European Young People’s Conference and the Winter School of Truth. Our burden is for these young people to be trained and become useful vessels for the Lord’s move.

Most of the adult saints in our locality do not speak English. Nevertheless, despite the language barrier, we are burdened for blending and broader fellowship with the saints outside of Serbia. We desire to be harmonized, blended, adjusted, mingled, and built up in the life of the Body so that everything we do may be for the church.

        Please pray with us for:

        • The saints to be fully lost in this corporate entity for the reality of the Body of Christ, until we all are consummated in the New Jerusalem.

          ALBANIA

The church life in Tirana is in great need of much prayer and moving forward in a blended way. As Paul first mentioned in Romans 15:19, he had fully preached the gospel in the region of Illyricum, which corresponds to today’s Albania. Since the time of Paul, Albania has seen many kingdoms, rulers, and dictators, yet the people have remained the same and have kept their unique language. Today, the majority of the population are Muslim, but deep within there is no peace. Instead, there is a prevailing sense of anxiety that permeates society.

The translated ministry of Brothers Watchman Nee and Witness Lee was first brought into Albania in the early 1990s, when a group of about 50 young believers began meeting together. However, due to civil unrest in 1997, the meetings ceased and most of the saints migrated abroad.

In 2013, a couple migrated from the United States to Tirana and began meeting again according to the ministry of Brother Nee and Brother Lee. Through their labor, the Lord has gathered many believers, though only a few truly have a taste for the ministry. At present, about five families regularly meet in their homes on the Lord’s Day. Yet, despite many years of fellowship, there has not yet been a group of responsible brothers raised up to take the ground and bear the testimony of a shining, living lampstand in Albania.

Today, Albania is quickly becoming one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe. But the Lord’s move for His testimony here is no vacation; it is a battle, a warfare that requires not individuals, but the corporate Body. After twelve years of labor, the American couple is returning to the United States for their children’s education. We pray that even though this may be a loss, it may also be a good opportunity for the saints to seek the Lord in His economy in a fresh way, both personally and corporately—whether in their local gatherings or blending with saints elsewhere.

          Please pray with us for:

          • The Lord to continue to draw His seekers.
          • The Lord to bless His move in Albania to gain His testimony according to His timing and His way.
          • Rhema books stored in our warehouse would go out to the seekers.

            BULGARIA

Praise the Lord for His move in Sofia, Bulgaria! The capital city has a population of approximately 1.5 million people, including over 50,000 university students, and the student population continues to grow.

The meeting hall of the church in Sofia is located in the city center, near the main university with over 21,000 students. Several saints’ homes are also within a few minutes walking distance of the campus.

There are 27 saints in the local church who are enjoying the ministry of the age through the translated publications, the Holy Word for Morning Revival, and the Lord’s up-to-date speaking in the seven annual feasts. Four brothers from Sofia attended the most recent ITERO, and some of the young people participated both in the European Young People’s Conference and in the Winter School of Truth.

More than 50 Living Stream Ministry publications have already been translated into Bulgarian and are available on our website: jivpotok.bg.

            Please pray with us for:

            • The saints in Sofia to be built up together and blended in the Body for the strengthening of the Lord’s testimony in Bulgaria.

              GREECE

The Lord has richly blessed the church in Athens in recent years by bringing a growing number of English-speaking young people, ages 12 to 17, primarily from China, to study in Greece. Our Saturday young people’s meetings have been full of these young ones and their parents, many of whom have also entered into the church life. In addition, through the practice of the God-ordained way, new ones have been established in the church life through group meetings held in both Chinese and Greek in various homes.

Currently, the church life in Athens consists of about 20 to 30 saints who meet regularly on the Lord’s Day, among whom only a few are Greek-speaking. There are also a number of saints scattered throughout the country, particularly in the north, who gather weekly online for prayer, fellowship, and the reading of the ministry.

In Athens we deeply sense the need for a breakthrough, especially in reaching local college students. Although we have been regularly visiting nearby campuses to distribute free English New Testaments Recovery Version, we have not yet been able to establish effective contact with the students.

During three visits from trainees of the Full-Time Training in Taipei, each lasting five weeks—in Spring 2019, 2023, and 2024—the young trainees were able to connect with students from the three most prestigious universities in Greece: the University of Athens, the Athens Polytechnic, and the Athens Medical School, all located near the meeting hall. The trainees brought seeking students back to the meeting hall for dinner, singing, and fellowship. Some received the Lord, and a few were baptized. Though they were brought into group meetings, they stopped attending after the trainees left, and we lost contact with them. This highlights a key challenge: most of the serving ones in the church in Athens are over 50 years old and have difficulty relating to college students.

For several years, we have been praying and crying out to the Lord of the harvest to send young serving couples to labor on the campuses. In fellowship with the brothers in Taiwan and the UK—who have been very supportive—we are now calling for young, English-speaking full-time serving ones under the age of 35 to labor with us. The proposed arrangement is for each one to serve in Athens for a three-month term, twice a year: from September 25 to December 25, and from February 10 to May 10. We are able to provide free accommodation; the full-timers would be responsible for their own travel and living expenses.

In a further encouraging development, a dear saint has purchased a 165-square-meter property just outside the gates of two neighboring universities. This property—together with several apartments owned by the saints near the meeting hall—can serve as gospel stations for the campus work. These facilities will provide free accommodation for visiting full-timers and may, in the future, be used as brothers’ or sisters’ houses.

We warmly welcome young, trained, English-speaking saints under the age of 35, who can enter Greece visa-free for up to three months, and who are burdened to labor with us for the gaining of local Greek students. If you feel led by the Lord, please contact us for further fellowship.

              Please pray with us for:

              • The arrival in September of 2 full-time serving families with young children from Taiwan and a sister who has just graduated from the FTTL. May the Lord open the way for their long-term residence permits and strengthen them as they settle and start learning Greek.
              • The Lord to bless the gospel work in the campuses this academic year, marking out many sons of peace that He has prepared for the church life.

                TURKEY

There are around 60 saints in Türkiye, with church life established only in Istanbul. About 35 saints meet together on the Lord’s Day. Our main burdens are to gain local college students and to publish more ministry books in Turkish.

After completing his recent studies in the United States, a serving brother returned to Istanbul. Before leaving the U.S., he had the opportunity to fellowship with the brothers serving in the LSM and was encouraged in the translation and publication work of the Turkish ministry books. In response, the translation progress will be accelerated, and the Turkish Life-study of the Bible translation project is now in preparation.

Through the faithful labor and visits of the serving saints, the Lord is gaining and supplying contacts and saints in Istanbul and Izmir. In recent months, the saints were able to baptize one working couple in Istanbul and visit both the saints and gospel contacts in Izmir.

The saints are also seeking ways to establish new contacts through the preaching of the gospel for the Lord to gain more testimony among the local people.

                Please pray with us for:

                • The needs of the Turkish translation work, especially for more translators.
                • The newly baptized ones to continue to receive the Lord’s nourishment and be perfected in the church life.
                • The strengthening of the saints in Izmir and the raising of useful vessels to recover the Lord’s testimony there.
                • The saints in Alanya and Adana, that they may come to know more of the vision of Christ and His Body and enjoy Christ as the living-giving Spirit.
                • The Lord to open the door of the gospel and raise more saints to receive the burdened to move to Türkiye, strengthen His move, and establish more golden lampstands.
                • The distribution of Rhema Books to the major cities in the country, and that the Lord would gain more seekers through them.

The Recovery Version of the New Testament
in the Czech and Slovak Languages

For nearly 70 years the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic composed one country, Czechoslovakia, a country of two nations and two official languages. Some European linguistic authorities still recognize Slovak and Czech as the two closest Slavic languages, requiring practically no need of translation when used in mutual communication.

The current population of the Czech Republic is a little over 10 million, and the population of Slovakia, about 5.5 million. Today there are three lampstands in the Czech Republic and two lampstands in Slovakia, with approximately 50 local saints in each country. In the past 20 years, 19 saints from Slovakia and the Czech Republic have graduated from the FTT, and three are currently in attendance.

In 1996 we began to translate the ministry from English into Czech and Slovak, and that work continues to this day. At present a total of 140 books and Life-studies are available in these languages. In addition to the ministry books, most of the up-to-date speaking given during the “seven feasts” is made available to the saints in both countries in the form of outlines, morning revivals, and translated recordings of the spoken messages.

Having this as a strong foundation of our translation work, we feel that now is a good time to start the translation of the Recovery Version into Czech and Slovak. In 2024 the fellowship concerning the burden to translate the New Testament began with the brothers in Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans (CEEB). This fellowship continued with some of the brothers bearing the responsibility for the work in Europe, and eventually with the brothers in the LSM office. As a result, the leading was to create one team of Czech and Slovak translators to work together and produce two versions of the New Testament simultaneously.

Please pray with us while we progress in our fellowship, coordination, and practical preparation for this project to begin in the summer of 2025.

Any church or individual who has a burden to make a one-time or recurring donation for this project can give in the following ways:
